I am starting to explore this idea of a closed vessel. The working title is Sorrow Urn and the idea informing the work is that the closed vessel/urn holds sorrow, not unlike the body. This closed vessel is made using the method of coiling, which is wrapping cotton, string or wool around strips of fabric. The fabric is a found woolen blanket and the binding is crochet cotton. During the past 3 months I have relocated to Northern NSW, started studying at Southern Cross University and completed contract work at a Northern Rivers RTO.
It is now time to return to art. I have set up a workspace in our house, and as you can see it has a lovely northern aspect, which is perfect for the autumn and winter months ahead. I am exploring applique at the moment as an art medium. These are a few sample works that I have produced recently. These works have led me to think about fabric as a surface on which to build layers.Karryn Argus |Paul Batt | Fergus Binns | Wendy Black | Trevor ‘Turbo’ Brown | Carmen Caruana | JuYuen Chew | Elizabeth Cleland |Amy Devereux | Julian Di Martino | Adam Douglas | Chris Evans | Liz Francis | Peter Hannaford | Kim Henenberg | Grant Hill | Bea Jones | Rachel Joy |Stephanie Karavasilis | Penelope Le Petit | Carmel Louise | Priscilla Manthey | David McCall | Mel Miller | Leslie Morgan | Elwyn Murray | Keith O'Donnell |Vladimir Rachko | Jackie Ralph | Caesar Sario | Benjamin Sheppard | Josh Simpson | Fern Smith | Karen Standke | Paul van Katwijk | Robert Waghorn | Gillian Warden | Charlotte Watson | Anna White | Mark Wingrave
