Absence
Relief
These relief works explore both form and feeling. Objects pressed into clay leave traces that are captured in plaster, holding moments of presence and absence. Lifting the clay reveals the imprint beneath, echoing the sense of release or relief we feel emotionally. Just as the clay bears the imprint of what was pressed into it, these reliefs carry traces of human touch and experience.

Relief found in what is...
Works above exhibited on 'Who nose?' at Smith + Gertrude in February 2025 with the following artists
The Weight of Silence
The Weight of Silence was installed at Glimpse Art Space on High Street Northcote on May 17th, IDAHOBIT (International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia). By aligning my personal narrative of the silence associated with estrangement with IDAHOBIT, a day that acknowledges the ongoing struggle for queer rights, I'm drawing attention to the marginalisation that can be felt not only in public spaces but in families, communities and internally. Installing on IDAHOBIT positions The Weight of Silence as an act of visibility, a declaration of queer presence, agency, and personal resilience
Making Visible the Duration of Absence
Healing circle works using making and remaking with each one whole in themselves. Self-imposed limitations in the making process become a metaphor for the containment felt in one's lived experience of estrangement. Starting, finishing and starting over again as in everyday. One work for each week of a year, multiplied by many years, makes visible the duration of absence.
Each work is made with upcycled yarn, found objects and florist wire. Works range in size from 20cm to 30cm except #10 and #45 which are approximately 40cm wide.
If you would like to be gifted one of these works please contact me via the contact form and let me know which number work you would like to receive.
Many of these works were shown and gifted at the Banyule Open Studio 2024
